The Division: 10 Ways You’re Playing It Wrong
7. You're Neglecting The Base Of Operations
Early on in my time with The Division, I decided that only the campaign quests and side missions were worth actively seeking out. The main threads of the story grant you plenty of experience to progress with, and the side missions offer support for that. Perfect, right?
Wrong. While this strategy may help with the agent's basic levelling, it doesn't account properly for the way new perks and abilities are unlocked. Fortunately I realised this before it was too late, but I know a few fellow players who weren't quite so lucky...
New skills, perks, and abilities are unlocked by upgrading the various sections of the Base of Operations. The agent upgrades that these bring do a great many things, from adding firepower to your sticky bomb to making the portable cover virtually impenetrable.
And while the game's main quests will give you a small amount of resources with which to upgrade the base, it's in the plethora of smaller encounters that you'll get the bulk of these commodities. Don't overlook them, lest you end up with a high-level agent stuck with low-level abilities!
