The Division: 11 Things That Must Be Fixed

Ubisoft strikes again.

After years of waiting and a rollercoaster ride of hype, Tom Clancy's The Division is finally here. Yes, many of us initially expected it'd either get quietly cancelled or simply not live up to its potential, but it's a pleasure to report that, for the most part, The Division is a highly entertaining MMO shooter which makes good on its ambitious premise. That said, it's an Ubisoft game, so it's far from perfect, and as entertaining as it is, there are definitely some huge areas for improvement. From glitches to unbalanced gameplay elements and more deeply entrenched aspects that just don't feel developed enough, there's a lot that Ubisoft can do to spruce the game up in upcoming content updates. What's there is a great foundation, but if they want the game to have true staying power, these gripes could do with being remedied.

11. The Terrible Character Creator

When it comes to the RPG genre, players have become accustomed to having a large variety of options for creating the specific look of their character, and so it's tremendously disappointing that The Division is so laughably limited in this regard. The character creator allows players to pick from just 8 faces and 5 hairstyles...but for some reason 28 different types of neck tattoo. The resulting problem isn't just a lack of choice on the part of the player, but simply that the world's inhabitants end up looking so samey and generic. Don't we want to distinguish our characters with radical red mohawks and custom tattoos? Instead we get arguably the worst character creator in any recent AAA game, especially one that's so ambitious and detailed in other areas. What a wasted opportunity, albeit one that could easily be fixed with an update (as long as it allowed us to modify our existing characters, of course).
