The Division 2 Review: 10 Ups & 4 Downs
3. There's No Matchmaking For Side Missions
The Division 2 makes so many smart design decisions, particularly in relation to its snappy co-op multiplayer, that it's utterly baffling that there's no ability to matchmake for side missions.
For regular story missions and other activities such as bounties and open-world exploration, there are distinct matchmaking options, but for the game's side missions, you have to simply start the mission, put out a call for backup and just hope for the best.
It's frustrating because the game's side missions are surprisingly in-depth, and having to rely on a random maybe answering your call mid-mission really isn't good enough.
Sure, you can jump into an exploration lobby and suggest to your teammates that you tackle some side missions, but that's adding extra steps and assumptions that players really shouldn't need to.
Why Massive made such a glaring omission is anyone's guess, especially as the side missions are surprisingly well-crafted and can net players massive amounts of XP.
