The Division: 3 Ups & 6 Downs From The Beta Playthrough

6. Enemy Design Is Very Repetitive

Onto the enemies, and you're going to be going up against a hodgepodge of... actually very naff-sounding enemy types. Seriously, one of the groups that's emerged are called the 'Cleaners', who want to... you guessed it... "Clean up the streets!" Either you'll love how dumb that is, or it'll clash with the serious tone they look to be aiming for elsewhere. For me, it's the latter. That said, in-game is what matters, and therein lies a bit of a harsh rub. See, after a few hours in Ubi's version of New York, you'll have maybe fought more than two types of enemy. If you're lucky. The most common are the standard hooded thugs, who are split into two types where one will rush you with a baseball bat no matter what, and the others will fire from cover. In addition you've got the aforementioned Cleaners, who are Division's version of 'heavy' enemies, and wield flamethrowers in abundance. These guys are a piece of cake to take out, as you simply run back and fire from afar, their A.I. dictating that they'll attempt to scorch you from across the street... with a car's length jet-stream of flame. Ubisoft are surely holding back the entire city's worth of villains for the full release, but it's still pretty disheartening to see such a level of repetition so fast.
