The Elder Scrolls 6: 9 Things It Must Do Better Than Skyrim
6. Optimisation
As of this year, Bethesda's Creation Engine will be pushing six years of age which, in video game years, is around the time that funeral arrangements should be considered.
A slew of RPGs have come and gone in the years since that have put its ageing tech to shame, and there's really no excuse for Beth's flagship franchise not to include some of the bare necessities expected of the genre.
Loading screen transitions from open world to interior settings is one of the biggies. For the most part, CD Projekt's Witcher 3 was a seamless world from start to finish (and looked prettier to boot), requiring no dreaded black screen whenever a door was made ajar and the same goes for performance.
Unless Bethesda desires to court controversy, ESO VI will roll out as an advertisement for a brand new engine, and assuming that's the case, the bug-infested first few weeks of Fallout 4's launch will hopefully be avoided.
