The Elder Scrolls 6: 9 Things It Must Do Better Than Skyrim
7. Asset Reuse
Barring a handful of exceptions - the vast subterranean expanse of Blackreach will forever remain a highlight of Skyrim's spelunking activities - the caves, crypts and ancient Dwemer cities that lie beneath Skyrim's frostbitten surface all too often struggle to distinguish themselves from the last.
Part of the pervading sense of Deja Vu comes down to the reliance - and overuse - of similar enemy types (so. many. Draugrs.), but their presence only serves to accentuate the overarching problem of Skyrim's gratuitous reliance on asset reuse.
For every one-of-a-kind dungeon like Shadowgreen Cavern or Blackcoast Cove, there exist several dusty tombs home to Nordic heroes of old and deserted Dwarven cities.
We'd be fools to expect every last dungeon to be kitted out with unique environmental design, but it's not all about quantity. Bethesda could easily prevent, or at the very least, slow the rate in which the sense of familiarity creeps in by slimming down the number of dungeons available in VI, and dedicating more time to making each feel wholly different to the last.
