6. Aldmeris

Aldmeris is said to be the birthplace of the elven races and the Nords of Tamriel. Little is actually known for certain about the land, but most accounts agree that it sank beneath the sea shortly after many of the inhabitants fled.

According to the Aldmer High Lord Torinaan, the survivors were escaping from 'doom oblivious', possibly hinting at events involving Oblivion.

Altmer - the closest related race to the Aldmeris natives - have scarce records involving a beautiful but strange land. Others say that Aldmeris was a series of cities constantly built atop one another until nothing natural remains.

Unlike previous games - where the player traditionally begins as a nameless prisoner - Elder Scrolls VI: Aldmeris could begin with the player as part of an archaeological team. That, or part of a labour crew trapped in a cave-in, should Bethesda need to keep the tradition going.

Elder Scrolls VI: Aldmeris could be different from the previous games by adding a strong element of discovery to the game. Each new area uncovered could then change the current dungeons marginally, much like the Skyrim: Dragonborn quest Unearthed where a tomb is excavated in stages. /

By slowly uncovering the land, the player would become an active part of events, differing from Skyrim where they could only choose from pre-set options. Aldmeris could see actual physical challenges during the game, from dungeons and settlements slowly being uncovered to the roadways connecting them all slowly emerging as flora and fauna slowly come back to life.
