The Elder Scrolls VI: Every Rumour & Confirmed Detail So Far
9. It's For Next Generation Consoles
As you've probably guessed from the last few entries, The Elder Scrolls VI will not be releasing on the current generation of consoles.
Starfield, the game coming before this, is already being spoken about as an experience that could only be created on the next generation, and we know that the Creation Engine has been boosted considerably for that game. We also know that a brand new animation system is being implemented for the game following that, which we presume is The Elder Scrolls VI.
While Starfield is still in development, and they're aiming for a next-generation release, there is still a chance that some clever optimization of the final product may lead to it being released on current generation consoles.
It's not something they're aiming for as they want to make the best game they can, but it's something they've explicitly said they won't be ruling out.
However, with even more technology built into the Creation Engine specifically for The Elder Scrolls VI since development on Starfield began, there's absolutely no chance of that being able to fit on current generation consoles.
