The Elder Scrolls VI Wishlist: 10 Essential Things Fans Demand

5. Property Management

Property in open-world games is a strange thing, mainly because by very definition you're going to be consistently branching out to find new areas and things to do, the assumption being that unless you're playing something that favours a survivalist element like Don't Starve or The Long Dark, you just don't need one defined place to revisit. On the other hand, having safe zones where you can recoup stat-levels of all kinds and dump your loot into chests is a huge benefit, providing there's a steady balance between how many properties you can build, and where. Skyrim's Hearthfire DLC gave us the first taste of what this would be like, but as it was additional content not intended for the base experience, you could argue its mentality works more as a mod for the flow of the campaign, as oppose to being a considered part of it. There have been multiple mods on PC that turn Skyrim into a full-on survival game, and some Metro: Last Light-style elements of having to consider what to bring and manage for your time out in treacherous territory could aid the explorative elements of Scrolls immensely.
