The Last Of Us Part 2: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
10. Manny
Manny is Abby's equivalent to Jesse, a very chill supporting character who is relegated in the overall narrative but gets a few brilliant moments of charisma and poignancy. His dynamic with Abby helps improve the sudden shift in focus halfway through the game, with their clear chemistry making the jarring feeling of controlling the enemy a lot easier to take in.
Their dialogue exchanges through the initial firefight in Seattle suggests years of connection and experiences together, and it adds some much needed brevity at this point in the game.
Manny is never important narratively, The Last of Us 2 could likely exist without him, yet he gets one of the most impactful moments of bravery in the series thus far. His storming of the marina before his death at the hands of Tommy is invigorating to play besides, watching him refuse to give up on friends and keep fighting until the end is a rarely fitting sendoff to a character in this game.
Alejandro Edda perfectly provides the light hearted banter of Manny's calmest moments, and nails the adrenaline of his final minutes through his passionate delivery.
The joy of seeing him again contrasted with the sadness of his loss is a perfect encapsulation of the game's themes, of sudden joys being enveloped by uncontrollable darkness.
