When it comes to the notes and journal entries you find strewn across these areas, Naughty Dog has upped its game yet again.

The devs have essentially taken the Ish story from the first game and used that as a template for every note you find in the sequel. You'll constantly be finding interlinking stories told entirely in text, some of which unfold across the entirety of the game, rather than just across one area.

Not only are they captivating and interesting in their own right, but the stories of characters you never even see in the flesh also tie into the wider themes of Ellie's narrative. Every part of the game is working towards the same cohesive goal, no matter how big or small.
