The Last Of Us Part 2 Review: 10 Ups And 2 Downs
DOWNS
2. A Few Repeated Design Tricks
Of course, despite my gushing praise, The Last of Us 2 does have a few minor issues. For one, Naughty Dog relies on some level design tricks a few too many times.
As always, the general objective of each chapter will have you pushing towards a destination in the distance, which is mostly integrated well into the plot and justified, but it's difficult to ignore that this has acted as the template for so many Naughty Dog releases now.
Likewise, when it comes to moving through areas, you can count how many times you'll try a locked door, only to turn and realise the real path was behind you out of view the whole time.
The enemy A.I. isn't quite the step forward it could be either. It's often difficult to figure out whether you're in an enemy's line of sight or not, which can make stealth sequences that little bit more unpredictable.
