While the Master Sword is customarily the requirement to slay the dreadful Ganon, the light arrows tend to have their say in the final battle, too. In many of the 3D era games, Zelda manages to stun or weaken Ganon/dorf with a storm of blessed arrows, allowing Link to deal the final blow with his trusty blade.

The light arrows, blessed and important as they are, clearly boast a lot of power, but stronger still are the silver arrows from the original Zelda as well as A Link To The Past. In these iterations, the shining projectiles are the only item that can vanquish Ganon.

In the latter game, they’re just about the strongest weapon in the game, destroying most enemies with one shot (similar to Breath Of The Wild’s ancient arrows, but stronger still due to their Ganon-vanquishing ability).

As the importance of the Master Sword grew in Zelda lore, the silver arrows were put aside in favour of the equally cool but empirically less powerful light variations. Perhaps Link ought to give them another try, though, as they would most likely make his task a lot easier.
