The One Feature All Spider-Man Games Get WRONG
Is It A Big Deal?
I realise that talking about Spider-Man's totally not terrible wall crawling in his video games for 2000 words now might seem a bit like overkill, but it's a fair criticism considering it's been completely ignored and botched for decades now.
Every time a new trailer comes out for a new game with the hero at the helm, the Internet explodes with discussion over the minutiae of the web swinging mechanics. Everything from the speed to the animations to how physics-heavy it is is scrutinised, often in a way that makes the eventual game better, as developers respond to feedback.
And yet, arguably an ability just as integral to the Spider-Man character as that gets a fraction of the same attention. With so many Spidey titles building on and refining web-swinging systems and ideas introduced in previous games, wall crawling deserves the same love.
If you want players to really, truly, feel like Spider-Man (there it is again), you can't keep ignoring one of his most unique strengths.
