7. The Werewolf Inspirations

Game director Ru Weerasuriya spoke to IGN as the game came to the market to discuss some of the inspiration points that went into The Order, and specifically the game's werewolves. Despite reinventing the "rules" of werewolves - in that they don't require the traditional trigger of being bitten - Weerasuriya acknowledged that he drew on a couple of famous horrors for tips on how to portray the transformation. Both An American Werewolf In London and the distinctly less good Wolfman with Benicio Del Toro fed into those change scenes, with the focus on the grotesque. Weerasuriya also admitted that the mentality of The Elephant Man was also a spiritual inspiration to how the werewolves were depicted.
