The Witcher 3: 10 Rare Weapons You Totally Missed
8. Iris
The only way Iris is acquired is by completing the Hearts of Stone DLC in a certain way, which is why this missable sword is both incredibly rare and incredibly powerful.
To be gifted Iris, Geralt MUST choose to save Olgierd instead of siding with Master Mirror, in Hearts of Stone's final decision. Choosing to forfeit Olgierd's soul will guarantee that this weapon is lost forever, so decide wisely before becoming best buds with Gaunter O'Dimm.
If you do choose to save Olgierd though, the reward is arguably worth it.
Iris has one of the more intriguing effects in the game, and it is one that is only found on this sword.
After a number of successful attacks, Iris can perform an extra powerful strike that deals massive damage and knocks enemies back. However, this comes at the cost of a portion of Geralt's health, meaning the sword can kill you if you're not careful.
This adds a whole new tactical level to the Witcher's combat, which presumably most players have had their fair share of once they get round to tackling Hearts of Stone.
So if you want an added element of risk/reward element to your combat, maybe hold off on thwacking Olgierd.
