The Witcher 3: 10 Things You Didn't Know
4. One Million Lines Of Code
It’s no secret that video games require a lot of work. They aren’t in production for years for no good reason! The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is no exception; its map is enormous, there are countless NPCs and dialogue options, and it is stuffed to the brim with all sorts of items and events.
To put all of that into perspective, The Witcher 3 game consists of over one million lines of code. As if that wasn’t enough, around 30,000 of those lines were used for the game’s dialogue alone. The developers really had their work cut out for them!
That work doesn’t go unappreciated, though. The game is praised for the sheer amount of things to do, people to talk to, and the ability to just ride around on Roach for hours on end enjoying the beauty. Certainly not wasted code.
