The Witcher 3: 12 Crucial Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You
2. Axii Calms Roach Mid-Fight & Hold Attack Button To Slow Time
Horse-mounted combat is still something done best in Red Dead Redemption, but Witcher 3 is definitely having a go. First off, if you've ever piloted Roach into the middle of a skirmish you'll notice a separate 'Fear' bar will start to increase - especially if you're taking on a group of enemies and some stragglers are gnashing at its heels. To remedy this either from horseback or the ground, equip the Axii sign and use it on the steed. They'll calm right down, preventing you from potentially getting thrown off mid-swing. Secondly, whilst on Roach and approaching an enemy, hold down the attack button; it'll put the game into slow motion and allow you to line up your shot better - something that's a godsend if you've been having problems trying to take enemies on whilst mounted. An upgrade allows you to aim the crossbow in slo-mo too, but as for melee attacks Geralt can pull them already.
