The Witcher 3: 7 Book Stories All Wild Hunt Fans Should Read
4. The Bounds Of Reason
What It’s About: Y’know, I want to give this story some credit for being about dragons and not heavily alluding to that in its title.
How many pieces of fantasy are able to sidestep that little nugget these days? Anyway, Geralt runs in to a chap named Borch Three Jackdaws (he's not the best at names) and his two alluring Zerrikanian lady companions.
After a lovely little debaucherous night, Geralt stumbles upon a small army of villagers hunting down a golden dragon, a group that includes the ever-present Dandelion and Geralt's now ex Yennefer.
They encounter the golden dragon, naming itself Villentreten merth, which Geralt refuses to kill, as it is against the witcher code. The Zerrikanians make a cameo appearance and the dragon is freed. The dragon takes human form, revealing he is Borch Three Jackdaws.
Why You Should Read It: This story is a good reference for people who don’t grasp the dynamics of Geralt and Yennifer’s on-and-off again romance.
It’s a great analogous point to come in and touch base on, and coming off her introduction story it was great for setting their roles up going forward. But you should really read this story for the magnificence of Villentretenmerth.
He may not be the best at names, but he is one of Wild Hunt’s finest Gwent cards, and for all the numerous victories he’s picked up for you, you owe it to him to find out where he comes from.
