The Witcher 4 Wishlist: 10 Things Fans Demand

Don't leave us hanging, CD Projekt. Don't you dare.

With the story of Witcher 3 concluded, and very little info about CD Projekt Red’s next big title, Cyberpunk 2077, fans have been left in a limbo they’ve been filling with speculation and wishful thinking.

Indeed, CDPR are industriously keeping rumours of a new Witcher alive with vague vows not to abandon the franchise.

Since Wild Hunt was such a smashing success, the game's popularity reflected in its earnings, it’s understandable that the devs want to keep a hold of the golden goose a while longer. And while some are fearful that their beloved trilogy could devolve into a soulless series, others are simply eager to see more of it.

After all, the universe of the Witcher, firmly based in an acclaimed book saga from the 1990s, is far from fully explored.

Now, ‘not abandoning the franchise’ could mean many things. We already have Gwent and the Witcher Adventure Game – but it seems there’s more to come. It is not even known yet whether the next Witcher game will even be an epic-scale RPG like its predecessors, but starved fans have been lining up with wishlists for what they want The Witcher 4 to be like.

10. Tie Up Loose Ends In The Story

How did things work out for Roche? How did Nilfgaard’s conquest of the North unfold? Did the Lodge of Sorceresses manage co claw its way back to power? And whatever happened to Iorveth and Saskia?

The Witcher 3 left quite a few story lines open-ended. Whether that was done with the specific aim at a new instalment in the series or not, The Witcher 4 won’t be lacking in threads to pick up.

Continuity is key here. Many of the storylines seem to be invalidated by player choice in the previous games, but they don’t really have to be. Taking Iorveth and Saskia as an example, helping him break the spell on the rampaging dragon is as viable a quest as putting said dragon down in an epic battle.

One possible avenue to explore, apart from the ones already listed above, is the fate of the witcher schools. Building them back up Jedi Academy style could make for an interesting part of the story, and carving out a place for witcher in a changing world could be a dramatic experience.
