These Video Game Sequels Suck!

2. Tony Hawk's Ride

And speaking of bad moves, let’s talk about the absolute state that was Tony Hawk’s ride.

How the hell did anyone think this was going to work? The idea I’ll admit got me interested seeing as I’d finally be able to relive my youth and dreams of being a skateboarder by ...well doing what I actually did in my youth and that’s stay inside and not make any real effort to learn a skill.

Tony Hawk's ride ironically was riding the end of the wave brought in by other plastic fantastics like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, giving players another lump of carcinogenic crap to fill up their homes with. The board controller is quite possibly the worst thing I’ve ever had to play with.

I wasted so much time trying to get my character to do even the most basic of things, and by the end of my disastrous playtime with Ride, not once did I believe this worked in testing before launch.

The funny thing was to watch the adverts of people trying to play this game and the camera cutting every time to the disconnected gameplay, because clearly they simply couldn’t get a single shot where the actions matched up to the desired result.

It was meant to be a game about sick airs and grinding more pole than me down the club, but all it did was make me sick and grind my teeth to their bloody gums.

Jules Gill hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
