Titanfall 2 Review - 6 Ups & 5 Downs

3. Multiplayer Doesn't Innovate The Original's Formula

The multiplayer suite is without question a whole load of fun, but it also suffers a little from failing to innovate what came before. Some might argue that the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach worked out for the best, though the result is that TF2's multiplayer just feels like a repeat of the original, albeit with adjustments made to pacing.

The multiplayer modes are largely the same (though Hardpoint has been boosted to now be Amped Hardpoint), and it doesn't really feel like Respawn have done much markedly different (at least in a good way) compared to the first game.

So, yes, while it's a blast, it also leaves one feeling a little unsatisfied simply because it lacks the frantic freshness of the first game. As a result, it's likely the player-base may drop off quickly, just as it did with the original.
