Tomb Raider: All 12 Games Ranked From Worst To Best

12. Tomb Raider: Angel Of Darkness (2003)

After a three-year hiatus, Lara Croft made her return on the PS2. Can you imagine the excitement? One of the most important games of all time overhauled for the greatest video game console ever? But wait. Don't put yourself in the over-excited shoes of yourself back in 2003, lest you relive the disappointment you felt when Angel of Darkness finally did drop. While the visuals looked decent enough for the PS2, the game was a buggy, over-animated mess. Everything, from opening a drawer to grabbing a ledge, took painfully long, and gameplay-wise it more awkward than the previous-gen iterations (which were already showing their age badly by 2003). The contrived RPG-style 'strength' system - which forced you to build up Lara's strength to do things as mundane as pushing crates or opening doors - was the icing on the cake. Or, more fittingly, the biggest nut in the turd.
