Tomb Raider: Ranking Every Game From Worst To Best
2. Tomb Raider (2013)
After a five year hiatus, this was a game that had the franchise comeback swinging in a big way. Grittier, darker, and more grim than ever.
Depicting a younger Lara fresh out of college, this was a game that didn’t pull any punches, and brought Lara back to basics. Ditching the twin pistols in favor of a bow, and abandoning the globe trotting adventures in favor of shipwrecking Lara on the uncharted Japanese island of Yamatai.
She must learn to deal with the hand she’s dealt, and uncover the secrets of the land, especially the mythical Sun Queen of Yamatai, Himiko, while surviving its seemingly endless amount of hazards as she hopes to escape and save her friends.
Players take in the pleasure of joining her every step of the way as she becomes the very definition of a survivor; somehow more of an empowering, strong heroine than she already was.
A survivor is definitely born, as is a whole new way to appreciate our favorite British archeologist.
