2. Zombies Ate My Neighbours
Now regarded as a cult classic by many,
Zombies Ate My Neighbours was originally released on the
SNES and
Genesis in 1993, although a new generation of gamers have been enjoying it on the
Wii Virtual Console since it was ported to it back in 2009. Playing as either Zeke or Julie, gamers are tasked with saving the neighbourhood from zombies, and monsters such as werewolves and vampires. With over 50 levels of co-op gameplay, this is one excellent zombie game which should be remembered.
1. Resident Evil 2
Whilst
Resident Evil 1 paved the way for this hugely successful zombie series, its sequel was much better. Resident Evil 2 sees players taking charge of Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they try to escape from zombie-ravaged Raccoon City two months on from the initial outbreak. In their escape from the city, the duo are confronted by a number of horrific enemies, including the memorable and G-Virus infected William Birkin. The gameplay expanded on the exploration, puzzle solving and combat that the previous game established, whilst retaining the horror elements that made Resident Evil so terrifying in the first place, such as limited ammunition and saves.
