1. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
PS2
The third instalment of the series comes out top of our list, mainly due to the accomplished level design and the jump to the next generation of consoles. Although THPS 2 is the better game on the original Playstation, it is THPS 3s PS2 incarnation that makes it the best Tony Hawks game yet. With the upgrade to the new generation of consoles the game takes a huge leap forward. The obvious upgrades come in the form of the graphics, greater draw distances and smoother animations. Online play became and option, but there weren't too many people at the time using it, especially not on the PS2 version. This game also added the ability to create combo tricks within tricks effortlessly, with the ability to execute triple kick-flips at any point this game opened up and new way of visual skating. There was a big addition to the gameplay, that took the form of revert! In the first Tony Hawks, the player could only link tricks through grinds, in the second manuals were added to link more tricks, but it was impossible to link a vert trick, until Tony Hawks 3. Revert allowed players to link every aspect of the game into a combo, it allowed players to land and vert trick and continue with a manual, meaning that the combos were able to last a lot longer. Best levels: Canada, Airport and Los Angeles
