6. Resident Evil Zero
Taking place a few hours before the events of RE1, Resident Evil Zero focused on the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team who went to investigate a series of murders in the Arklay Mountains in the outskirts of Raccoon City. The game featured Rebecca Chambers, the 18-year old rookie medic part of that Bravo Team, and her ordeals before arriving at the mansion where the events of RE1 take place. Rebecca Chambers and the other Bravo Team members quickly find themselves searching for an escaped fugitive, Billy Coen, who later joins Rebecca as they come to terms with the monstrosities surrounding them. The primary setting of the game is the runaway train known as the Ecliptic Express. RE0 was the last RE game in the series to feature the old-school camera and controls. It also featured swappable characters as players could easily switch between either Billy or Rebecca throughout most of the game, the other character being controlled by computer A.I. (a sign of things to come with RE5 perhaps?). They both had pros and cons and in certain sections you would be forced to use a particular character. Overall, RE0 was a decent installment in the series. Similar to RE3, it too didn't have many memorable moments and served its purpose as a simple prequel to the original game.
