6. The Chryssalid (XCOM: Enemy Unknown)
Of all the aliens you have to shoot, beat down, blow up, and vaporize during your organizations valiant efforts to defend the earth, none is more terrifying than the dreaded Chryssalid. Its basically a monstrous, four-legged Crustacean with the ability to destroy any of your squad members in one or two hits, and then rip their faces off and implant the corpse with an egg that turns the human into a hostile zombie. Oh, and it does so by projectile vomiting in the recently deceased's face. And, eventually, a baby Chryssalid will erupt from that zombie if the stumbling mass of rotting flesh is not dealt with right away. Did I mention theyre also incredibly difficult to kill? Exactly how many classic horror films are rolled up into that one monster? Alien, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Night of the Living Dead, and the Exorcist? Sweet dreams, commander.
