Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure Review

Yep, They Put A Story In A Brick Breaker

Now yes, this game could've just been a novel retro throwback and been worth the price of admission alone - as Twin Breaker won't set you back much at all. But first-time game writer Colin Moriarty has injected every aspect possible with charm and optional story elements.

Now, the term "optional" is key, because any player can simply button bash their way through the brick-breaking action, but if they did so, they would be robbing themselves of the true experience Twin Breaker has to offer.

See, the latest World War is engulfing the planet, but America has stepped aside taking themselves out of the fight and in a twist of fate, seek a new planet to colonise before our homeworld is no more than a smouldering crater.

For any massive Triple-A game with a budget of millions, this would be a solid starting point, and that is true even here too. From Level 1, the narrative roles out in retro style cutscenes as text fills the page. Completing levels with a certain score will unlock this game's version of collectibles, which come in the form of text logs.

These are sporadically dated and give the player an insight into how Earth got to where it did in the year 2311, but you can't help but wonder how awesome they would sound if there was voice acting here.
