Uncharted: 10 Game Elements That Should Be In The Film

9. Crash Bandicoot/Jak & Daxter Easter Eggs

If the Uncharted movie has one big job on its plate, it's to please fans of the games.

There's a reason pretty much every single game-to-film adaptation has failed miserably; this is a job every single game-to-film adaptation has failed to do. When you don't satisfy your most loyal audience, you're set up for a big fall.

One way to achieve said satisfaction is to include lots of tiny Easter Eggs and references, things only a fan would spot that'll put a smile on their face right there in the theatre. The Uncharted games are packed full of these little nods, with the two biggest revolving around a pair of classic platforming characters.

Every single Uncharted game has featured a Precursor Orb from Jak & Daxter as a collectible, and Uncharted 4 famously had Nate playing Crash Bandicoot on the PS1 with his wife, Elena.

Obviously, the latter shouldn't be in the movie in that form, but there are ways to sneak both in smoothly. Nate could take an Orb out of his bag while rummaging through it, or he could have a Crash doll sitting on the dashboard of his car, for example.

Easter Eggs do not make a film good, by any stretch of the imagination, but they do make a film more enjoyable for fans. And if they don't impact the film in any significant way, why not throw a few big ones in?

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
