Uncharted: 10 Game Elements That Should Be In The Film
8. Drake's Grappling Hook
Another part of Uncharted 4 that didn't quite add up was the sudden appearance of Nate's grappling hook.
It appeared prominently throughout most of Uncharted 4, and we see Nate receive it as a child. Only... in the first three games, it was nowhere to be seen. Why would he use it loads in his early days and as a kid, abandon it for three adventures (four if you count the Vita's Golden Abyss) and suddenly have it again for Uncharted 4?
Well... he wouldn't. It doesn't make sense. The first movie has a chance to remedy this fault though, and again, if there are to be sequels, this will ensure one of Nate's most useful tools doesn't just appear out of thin air.
Plus, the grappling hook is just a plain awesome bit of kit, and could be put to use in a variety of creative action sequences. The games didn't shy away from this, having Nate swinging across massive gorges and on the back of a truck, so why should the film?
And with Indiana Jones 4 being terrible, the grappling hook is an opportunity for Uncharted to cement itself as the premier action-adventure franchise featuring a guy swinging about on a rope/whip. Perhaps Nate swings over a gap, lands, brushes himself off and quips "Now that's how it's done."
A clear jab like that would be great fun to see, and would prove that the filmmakers are genuinely confident in the quality of their product.
