8. ...Apart From One Divisive Character

Nathan Drake's brother Sam was always going to be a polarising inclusion, as such characters always are when the fans are forced to accept a particular entity has been around this entire time, despite no mention of their existence.

"His forceful retconning means the game has to tell two stories much of the opening is €˜Expositional Climbing: The Game€™. The indulgence on Sam would be easier to forgive if he was likable, but he€™s not. He€™s consistently shifty and untrustworthy - an unusual misfire for Naughty Dog which has such a good track record for great characters, and even the unnaturally charismatic actor Troy Baker can€™t make him likable." - Leon Hurley, Gamesradar

You'll already know whether such a narrative proposition is inherently interesting, or if it's something the game is going to have a hard time convincing you of.

However, it's worth noting that Sam aids considerably in combat, as Game Informer's Andrew Reiner attests:

"He can tag and grab enemies, provide covering fire, perform double-team melee moves, and is lethal with a gun. The hand-to-hand fighting is greatly improved, giving each punch a cringe-inducing (but satisfying) smack."

More critics mark out Sam's inclusion as a great one, but when you take into account his fundamentally 'crowbarred in' nature, it's no doubt going to divide people.
