Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - 5 Things We Learned From E3

2. One Last Time?

Uncharted 4's subtitle is "A Thief's End". In the narration that accompanies the trailer, a conversation between Drake and his mentor Sully, they talk about how the former has "been out of the game for a long time", but that he only needs the latter's help getting back into it this "one last time". Are these some not-so-subtle hints that Uncharted 4 could be the last entry in the series? Nathan Drake himself seems to be at the end of his rope as he lays bloodied and battered on that beach. He admits to Sully that whilst this latest escapade might not be the "sure fire thing" they want it to be, he doesn't have much choice, implying that he's backed himself into a pretty serious corner. Sully reminds him that they deal with dangerous people in their line of work; so could we be foreshadowing Drake's downfall, or is it that of Sully? It would make sense behind-the-scenes, too, since the game has been handed over to aforementioned Last Of Us masterminds Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, following the departure of Uncharted's usual director/writer combo of Justin Richmond and Amy Hennig from the company. This could be the swansong for Nathan Drake, and maybe it should be.
