Asriel has already had a place on this list, but now it's time to discuss his fauna form. Technically speaking, they are the same character, but Flowey is an entity unto itself, so it's hard to argue that they don't deserve an entry all to themselves.

As previously mentioned, Flowey is the first character you meet in The Underground, as they're the one to introduce you to the battle mechanics and give you your first taste of what to expect, and it's safe to say they leave quite an impression. The toxic little flower lures you into a false sense of security, then attacks you while you're weak and proves that this game might be harsher than its cute art style suggests.

Eventually, after you come to understand that Flowey is evil, you treat them with caution. You'll get different experiences with the flower depending on your playstyle as a pacifist run will redeem them by turning them into Asriel, a neutral run will lead to the horrifying Photoshop Flowey fight, and a genocide run will see you crush the living flower to death.

Overall, Flowey is a significant part of Undertale's appeal as he's dark and twisted yet has the capacity to change if you work hard enough.
