The biggest WTF moment in Until Dawn isnt a death scene, or even part of the main plot. Its an item that you only find by exploring everywhere in the mines extensively, but its essential to tying everything together and figuring out the tragedy of the Washington sisters. You see, even though it looked pretty bad, Hannah didnt die from falling into the mines, like Beth did. If she had, it would probably have been a mercy. No, Hannah survived with bruises and a broken leg, with only her dead sister for company. Her diary documents her slow descent into madness and hunger. Day by day it eats away at her, until she has no option to give in to the temptation and dig up her freshly buried twin as a last, pathetic meal (and unknowingly unleashing the Wendigo curse as a result). The writing in her diary slowly transforms from a cold, scared, injured little girl to a hideous, terrifying monster with no remorse and no shred of humanity. Its made all the worse with the knowledge that she was just an innocent victim of a childish prank doomed to become a monster by those she considered friends. Theres a moral in that story somewhere.
