Until Dawn 2: 10 Improvements For The Perfect Sequel

1. More Impactful Choices

Choices need to have a greater impact on the game, and be less binary as well. One of the toughest decisions comes near the end. One of the characters, Emily, can get bitten by a wendigo. At this point, the player knows next to nothing about the wendigo.

Is it like a zombie? Are bites contagious?

So, when the player is forced to consider killing her to remove the threat, it is a genuinely difficult choice to make. These are the best parts of Until Dawn, where performing a morally reprehensible action may have a better outcome.

Not everything is so morally grey, however. Some of the choices are so obvious it's painful, such as the decision near the end of the game to save Jessica at no increased risk, or leave her behind to die.

Additionally, some decisions could have a greater effect. At multiple points, a character climbs a wall and has the option to take a more dangerous but faster route. Yet, there are no significant consequences for failing the subsequent QTEs. Perhaps in Until Dawn 2, endangering a character and failing injures them, making it more difficult to escape from a killer in the process.

People play Until Dawn for the chance to play as a character in a horror movie and make all the decisions. Let's make those decisions bigger.
