Until Dawn 2: 10 Improvements For The Perfect Sequel

5. Increase Importance Of Psychiatrist Scenes Or Ditch Them Entirely

If Supermassive Games can figure out a way to get Peter Stormare to come back for Until Dawn 2, they should definitely try. Not only did Stormare put in a great performance as the Psychopath's psychiatrist, but he could also serve as a bridge between Until Dawn and the sequel.

The psychiatrist scenes were interesting at points. Choosing your biggest fears, then having them show up later in the game as jump scares was a stroke of genius (do NOT pick spiders). There was a ton of potential to have them completely change the game.

Unfortunately, these scenes were largely phased out about halfway through, and had become pointless long before then.

In order to remedy this, one of two things must be done. First: Make these scenes more impactful, either by affecting the game or providing some insight in how the player is playing the game. Until Dawn tried this, accusing the player of giving answers to questions that contradicted their play style. It wasn't overly successful, but the effort was admirable, and the potential was big.

Failing this, the scenes must be removed entirely. Although occasionally a welcome reprieve to the constant scares of the main game, they eventually became more tedious than anything. With many of the chapters ending on a cliffhanger, removing pointless interludes is definitely the right move.
