The Walking Dead Game: 10 Horrific Things The Developers Made Us Do (So Far)

7. 400 Days: Vince

The Walking Dead: 400 Days is a piece of downloadable content for the first season which introduced the player to a new group of survivors who it is presumed will eventually turn up in Season Two. The most horrific moment in these five bonus playable scenes is probably Vince€™s story. Vince is a convict who is on his way to prison at an early point of the outbreak for murder (much like Lee was in episode one). Naturally things go terribly wrong as the prison guards abandon him and two other criminals all chained together on the bus. As the threat of Biters becomes apparent to Vince, it is made clear that the trio must find a way to escape their chains and the oncoming flesh-eaters. After acquiring a shotgun from a nearby dead cop, Vince has to make a choice whether to shoot the chain attached to the leg of Danny; a supposed rapist who claims he is innocent (and to be fair he might well be) or Justin; a con-man who admits he is guilty. To make the choice all the more difficult, in the earlier moments of the scene Danny comes across as a much more sympathetic character demanding he is genuinely innocent. Ultimately the shotgun blast is going to badly injure the leg of whoever€™s chain Vince decides to shoot off and it is left to the player to decide who to choose. The shotgun blast is a horrifying moment that completely removes the leg of either Danny or Justin, leaving them vulnerable to walkers whilst the other two make their escape. Again the decision ultimately doesn€™t have a huge impact on the story as both Justin and Danny will eventually die off-screen, but in the heat of the moment after only knowing these characters for around five minutes it is a very difficult decision to make.
