The Walking Dead Game: 10 Horrific Things The Developers Made Us Do (So Far)
6. Ben's Fate
Whilst many players have a lot of anger and hate towards the cowardly and often-foolish Ben, we actually have quite a bit of sympathy for the young college student. Sure he endangered the group on several occasions and was becoming somewhat of a liability but he is quite an accurate representation of how someone might react in a zombie apocalypse. Not everyone can be a hero and just because he isnt, does it mean you should drop him to his death and give your group a few more seconds to make their escape? Yet that is the choice that is presented to players at the end of episode four. Whilst attempting to climb a clock tower to escape from an incoming wave of walkers, Ben slips at the top and is left hanging over the edge. At this point Lee is given the opportunity to drop Ben, giving the gang a few precious seconds to make their escape or pull him up without knowing if there will be a consequence for doing so. Personally we think it is much more satisfying to save Ben as he is somewhat able to redeem himself in the season finale, making his arc much more satisfying.
