The Walking Dead Game Season 2: 5 Reasons Why It's Still Great

2. We're Not Lee Anymore

There was no problem with Lee, but the fact that he died at the end of the season was a superb writing choice. All throughout the last episode of Season 1, we knew Lee would have to die. He had been bitten! Whether you cut your arm off or not (I did), you were inevitably going to have to kill yourself, be euthanised, or go out all guns blazing. This meant that you would do anything to save the beloved Clementine. If he were to survive in the end, we might see these characters as invincible. Thankfully, we didn't and we clearly see that even if some of these characters survive, it's not like they're going to come out of any situation unscathed. Our attachment to Clementine is so much closer now that we have a 10 hour backstory (or thereabouts) and are now playing as her directly. Therefore if she is pained by our decisions, it matters because not only are we witnessing everything from her viewpoint now, but we were also the ones to teach her how to deal with these situations in season 1. In a sense, the student has now become the master.
