Warcraft 3 Reforged: Has Blizzard Finally Gone Too Far?
If It Ain't Broke...
To clarify, where fans may have wanted changes and improvements in Warcraft 3, nothing had been improved. Where they wanted no differences at all, the experience had been radically altered for the worse. Incredibly, even those fans who didn't buy Reforged reported that their Warcraft 3 experience had been changed, as the client was merged with Reforged.
That's right, even people who intentionally did not buy the Reforged game, wishing their Warcraft experience to remain unchanged, experienced the decline in features available to them.
Paradoxically, Blizzard has chosen to ignore fans criticisms and defend their position, with Stillwell claiming fans had shown a keen interest in this overhaul of the game, unlike Starcraft fans' demands for visual changes only.
This seems to fall somewhere between a catastrophic misunderstanding and an absolute lie. Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne sits comfortably near the top of Metacritic fan ratings at 9.3, while Reforged is sitting at an abysmal 0.5/10 at the time of writing, the lowest in the site' history.
Blizzard themselves have garnered no respect from fans in their response to the situation, initially refusing refunds even those whose games were too bugged to even open, and astonishingly banning those in the forums helping others to receive refunds.
