Warhammer 40K: Which Chaos Faction Should You Pick?

1. Alpha Legion XX Legion

Clandestine and secretive, the Brothers of the Alpha Legions wage war on all sides with their intentions unknown to all.

The last of the Adeptus Astartes Legions to be created by the Emperor and the only Legion to have twin Primarch’s their approach to war is almost alien to that of their cousins.

Where many of the chaos warbands favour outright destruction and frontal assaults, the Alpha Legion can overthrow a world with subterfuge and only a single operative.

Mistake their tactics with cowardice at your own peril, they will be upon you before you know it.

Positives of playstyle

Strongest Legion Trait as it gives a - one modifier to hit on most of their army when the enemy is over 12 inches away.

In 8th edition Warhammer you are able to stack to hit modifiers and their rules will allow up to a - four to hit on their Warlord. They can be practically impossible to shoot off the board.

Superb repositioning rules and disruption tools against their opponents.

They can build a ruthless character killing HQs with their relic combi bolter, Viper’s Bite and the Warlord Trait Headhunter.

Negatives of playstyle

No named character to use so will require you to be creative if you want to play narratively.

Command Point hungry army if you want to take advantage of their sneaky tactics.

In terms of damage output, they don’t have access to a lot of unique stratagems outside of tricks like “Sabotaged Armoury” to help guarantee a vehicle to explode.
