Why Elder Scrolls Will Always Be Better Than Fallout

7. Ordinary Vs. Extraordinary Experiences

Elder Scroll Fallout
Bethesda

Whilst we get the effect of a parallel history and it’s a sight to behold - the separation from everyday life is something that The Elder Scrolls excels in, as it really is an escape into an entirely new world. This works for some and not for others, but for true immersive gameplay, something new and unknown will always have that extra pull.

Why is any of this important? Well, by looking at the offerings of TES so far, and the enormous scope the lands of Tamriel (not to mention the entirety of Nirn), it’s fair to say that Fallout has put itself into a box.

We already know what we’re getting when it comes to new releases - more of the same burnt ground, more of the same brown and greenish hues, and more of same boring landscape - there’s little else to expect from a world that’s been bombed into nuclear dust.

In short: there’s no real sense of exploration and adventure when everything looks the same.
