Why Elder Scrolls Will Always Be Better Than Fallout
6. Lore
Then we move onto lore. Filled up to the very brim with books, rumours, and artefacts, TES is practically overflowing with the stuff. To casual players, what appears to be the run of the mill fantasy experience can so easily blossom into something incredibly, and uniquely, detailed, a rabbit hole of information that’s easy to fall into and never come out again.
Fallout of course provides opportunity to get involved with the deeper socio-economic politics of a world that’s been built up in the wake of the bombs, but its newness serves to its detriment.
Unlike TES, the world in Fallout has been around for only a fraction of time in the grand scheme of things, in which new ways of life have had to be established fairly quickly. TES already has thousands of years of lore under its belt from an entirely fictional world built from the ground up, that’s totally accessible and ready to be expanded upon.
There are even places like Sovngard and the Daedric plane to further explore and extrapolate upon, should the mere mortal realm prove too menial.
