Why Halo 4's Infinity Will Be Industry Changing Multiplayer

Spartan Ops

Enter Spartan Ops, or rather Halo's take on cooperative missions, similarly introduced in Modern Warfare 2. Okay, it's not fair to join comparisons and contrasts between the two brands, because Spartan Ops is quite different to what you'll already know. The idea behind War Games is that you're against your crewmates/squadmates, whilst the idea of Spartan Ops is the actual missions that you're involved in as a Spartan IV, namely the same one you created for War Games. What these missions will be, we're unlikely to see until we actually play the game ourselves, but Frank O'Connor, Development Director at 343i has stated the length of these is comparable to 'that of the campaign'. The gameplay itself will pit you and your online buddies into different scenarios, with an objective to complete within what will be known as 'Seasons'. For instance, Episode 1 may well be defending the UNSC Infinity after she crash lands, and Episode 2 might well be seeking out a target. Just for speculation sake. The concept of Spartan Ops is simple one, and you've probably thought of it yourself , an online cooperative campaign. But it won't be that, that defines it. It'll be the unique relationship it creates between the campaign as you trek Requiem as the Master Chief, and the side-stories that are simultaneously happening regarding Majestic Sqaud, a Spartan team onboard the Infinity, that your personal Spartan will assume a position within. Both of these game types form what will be known as Infinity, and will go down in history as the first major bridge between two normally divided concepts. I don't know about you, but I'm looking forward to putting my 15 year old head back on, and gunning me down some Grunts. Suck it to 'em marine, the Corps ain't payin' us by the hour...
