Wii U: 7 Reasons It's Already Won The Next-Gen Battle

6. Backwards Compatibility

When Nintendo announced that existing peripherals were going to be compatible with the Wii U, parents all over the world breathed a huge sigh of relief. The start up cost of a brand new console would have been a deal breaker for the casual market who have no interest in pro controllers and touch screen game pads. Every Wii-mote, steering wheel, nun-chuck and balance board is fully compatible, but peripherals only scratch the surface. Nintendo's handling of its games is a masterstroke. Every Wii title will be backwards compatible while Game cube games will be available for download on the virtual console. Have a huge selection of classics already purchased? Nintendo are making it extremely easy to transfer everything over to the Wii U. It's an excellent move from Nintendo and one that will be appreciated in these harsh economic times.
