Wii U: 7 Reasons It's Already Won The Next-Gen Battle

5. Christmas Launch & Price

The Wii U will launch with two models. The basic version will cost $299 while a premium version, which will cost $359, will have a larger 32 GB memory, a copy of Nintendo Land and a charger and stand for the Game pad. You also get 10% off all future purchases on the Virtual Console which is quite the incentive for old school gamers. Personally, I think the price is reasonable for a brand new console. Sony have just announced a super slim version of a 6 year old console for around the same price. It's hard to imagine anyone not spending the extra $50 for the premium model but The Big N are well aware they have two distinct markets. Most gamers will purchase the more expensive bundle but Nintendo also want casual gamers to see the Wii U as a high definition upgrade. Nintendo are the best in the business at marketing their products. Every kid will want one under the tree for Christmas and if the pre orders are anything to go by, demand is going to get even crazier. Remember the Wii launch? Expect the same in the run up to Santa Claus.
