Wii U: 7 Reasons It's Already Won The Next-Gen Battle

1. Best Franchises

No other company in the gaming industry has as big a catalog of well respected and prestigious IPs as Nintendo. Boosting some of most beloved and well recognized characters in gaming history, the Wii U will take full advantage of its incredible franchises. Super Mario Bros. will launch with the system as well as the gorgeous looking Pikmin 3. The Legend Of Zelda will no doubt grace us with its presence within a year or two, as well as a new Super Mario Galaxy, Donkey Kong and Metroid. Star Fox, Wario and F-Zero are all rumoured as well as Animal Crossing which seems a perfect match for the Wii U. Fire Emblem, Kirby and Luigi's Mansion could find a new home here too. But it's the potential of what Nintendo could do with their best franchises that excites me most. The possibilities are mouth watering. Imagine if Nintendo finally make a fully connected open world Pokemon RPG. Imagine an online Smash Bros complete with competitive leader boards, a co-op campaign and weekly tournaments. Now prepare to have your mind blown. Imagine an open world hybrid of a Super Mario Sunshine sequel and Mario Kart. Think a GTA-like sandbox (without shooting people and bonking princesses in the back of your Dolphin Dasher) set in the Mushroom Kingdom. The possibilities are endless. The Wii U has already won the next gen battle because Nintendo are at their best when they innovate. They just can't lose. Anything you'd like to add? Do throw us a comment...
