Wii U: 8 Reasons It's A Failure

5. Lack Of Third-Party Support

The hits just keep on coming. If Nintendo wants to ensure a strong library of must-have games, they also need to ensure they have strong third-party support to complement their own in-house titles. However, a recent IGN interview with developers working on next-generation titles have revealed that 63% of them found the Wii U the most challenging of the three next-gen consoles to work with. One unnamed company even said "we won€™t be working on Wii U due to these complexities", while other lamented the difficulty of porting Wii U games developed with the console's unique controls in mind to other platforms. Rumours have been running rampant for months that many prominent developers will end up dropping Wii U support altogether, which is not something a console already without a lack of good games needs to hear. If Nintendo ends up having to rest on the laurels of their own franchises, they may encounter even more trouble (console sellers though Mario, Zelda, Super Smash Bros etc are).
