Wii U Launch: 6 Franchises That Should Have Been Included

3. Star Fox

Although main protagonist Fox McCloud is a regular cast member in the Smash Bros. series it has been some time since he featured in his own game. The most recent Star Fox game was 2011€™s Star Fox 64 3D, a remake of the Nintendo 64 game. Other than this, you have to go back to 2006 to find a new entry into the franchise, making Star Fox a franchise that seems to have been somewhat left behind by Nintendo. However, there€™s no better time than the launch of a new console to breathe life into an ailing series. The gameplay, which revolves around flying a fighter ship along a fixed path, shooting enemies and completing objectives along the way, is one of the more unique things about the Star Fox games, meaning that a new game would offer some variety to Wii U owners. The tablet-based control system would suit a Star Fox game perfectly €“ the tablet screen could show the interior of the cockpit, complete with HUD, whilst the main action would appear on the TV screen. The return of co-op and multiplayer modes would ensure that a Star Fox game offers the social and family-orientated features that have come to be expected of Nintendo, and that have made its games so successful.
